Great news!
We won our union election (164 yes to 61 no) for both of our bargaining units, and we are all united again in one union (Professionals, Technical, Service, and Maintenance employees) for our contract negotiations as well as any union matters going forward!
What’s next? Management has a week to file objections to the election and if there are none, we will be officially certified as a union by the National Labor Relations Board next Friday, January 15th. We will begin to prepare for bargaining in a number of ways:
Holding our first official union meeting
Surveying everyone about what’s most important to us
Nominating and electing a bargaining team
Holding meetings and events to hone in on our top priorities for our first contract
Gathering data from other hospitals and comparing union contracts to decide what we want to propose
Building support among our colleagues and the public for the changes we want to make at OHMC
Stay tuned for further updates and as always, let us know if you have any questions!
In solidarity,
OHSU Hillsboro Organizing Committee, AFSCME Council 75
